West London LSG meeting
TRIGEMINAL NEURALGIA ASSOCIATION
WEST LONDON SUPPORT GROUP
MEETING ON WEDNESDAY 21 APRIL AT 6.30 for 7pm
AT CHARING CROSS HOSPITAL
FULHAM PALACE ROAD, HAMMERSMITH, LONDON W6 8RF
At the end of our last meeting we decided to try to get a smaller room for this meeting and one which would not have the background noise from the air conditioning. Unfortunately Derek Hodgson found that the only smaller room we could get was on the 11th floor of the main building and it is so small that we might not be able to fit in. So we are meeting in the same room as before but Derek has managed to arrange for the air conditioning to be switched off.
For the benefit of new members of our group, the location is the New Board Room on the ground floor of Riverside Wing, Charing Cross Hospital . Riverside Wing is 40 yards to the right of the main hospital entrance as you face the hospital. The New Board Room is on the left as you enter the block. After entering Riverside Wing go through the first door on the left, then through the door ahead of you. Buses run down Fulham Palace Road from Hammersmith Tube station to the hospital. At this time there is free parking in the streets on the right past the hospital as you drive from Hammersmith centre. You don’t need to tell me whether you are coming but it does help us to prepare the room if you do. Everyone is welcome to bring a friend or spouse.
Everyone seems to enjoy having refreshments both before and during the meeting. I shall make sure we have a kettle, milk etc and there will be soft drinks too. Would anyone willing to bring any light bits and pieces to eat please let me know so that we can avoid having so much that most of it has to be carried away again.
There is the usual problem of getting a big screen onto which to project a DVD but Derek will do his best. I have it in mind to play a DVD made by Dr Thomas Kopitnik, an American neuro-surgeon. I have heard this half hour talk myself and found it a good over-view of the TN condition and its treatment. Kopitnik himself favours the MVD treatment for most people but he describes the other surgical procedures very clearly
As always, there will be an opportunity for us all to share recent experiences, which many people find the best bit of the meeting.
Finally, as Treasurer of the association, I ought to remind you to make sure that you renew your subscription to the TNA when the reminders reach you. We have had to raise the subscription to £15 a year but I hope you find membership well worth it. The association depends on subscriptions and donations for nearly all of its income. .
