Clinical expertise

The wider Board brings expertise from across neurology, neurosurgery, pain medicine and dentistry.

Leadership & patient voice

Aneeta Prem MBE, CEO of TNA UK, leads the charity’s patient advocacy, professional engagement, research participation and public awareness work.

Her role is to bring patient experience and the realities of living with trigeminal neuralgia into conversations with clinicians, researchers, decision-makers and the wider public. Clinical advice and medical information remain within the appropriate professional remit.

UK-based. Internationally connected.

TNA UK is a UK charity, but trigeminal neuralgia has no borders. We welcome professional enquiries and appropriate collaboration from clinicians, researchers, universities, hospitals, professional organisations and educators in the UK and internationally.

If your work could improve diagnosis, treatment, patient experience, education or the evidence base for TN and facial pain, we want professionals to know how to reach us.

Professional questions

What is trigeminal neuralgia?

Trigeminal neuralgia is a facial pain condition involving the trigeminal nerve. Attacks are typically sudden, severe and often shock-like. Diagnosis is clinical and assessment should consider other causes of facial pain.

Can TN be mistaken for dental pain?

Yes. TN can be felt in the teeth, jaw or gums and may initially be interpreted as toothache. Dental professionals have an important role in recognising when the pain pattern does not fit a dental cause and when further medical assessment may be appropriate.

Where can professionals find information about MVD?

TNA’s MVD guide explains microvascular decompression in patient-focused language and links surgery information with patient experience. It should be used alongside specialist assessment and clinical guidance.

Can researchers work with TNA?

Yes. We welcome appropriate conversations about patient involvement, research engagement, professional education and collaboration. Contact us early so we can understand the proposal, its governance and what involvement is being requested.

Does TNA work internationally?

TNA UK is based in the United Kingdom, but we welcome professional and research contact from other countries where there is a clear connection to improving understanding, care, evidence or education in trigeminal neuralgia and facial pain.

How can a professional contact TNA?

Use our contact page and identify your professional role, organisation, country and reason for getting in touch. This helps us route the enquiry to the right person.
