Volunteer with TNA UK

People living with trigeminal neuralgia and facial pain can feel isolated, frightened and misunderstood. TNA UK exists so they do not have to face that alone.

Our volunteers help us support people across the UK through the Helpline, e-helpline, Regional Support Groups, awareness work, events, administration, fundraising and practical support.

You do not need to do everything. You may have a few hours to give, professional skills to share, local contacts to involve, or the energy to help raise awareness and funds. Every role matters.

Could you help?

You may be able to volunteer with TNA UK if you:

Are caring, reliable and respectful

Have some spare time to give

Want to support people affected by trigeminal neuralgia and facial pain

Can listen carefully and work within clear boundaries

Would like to help the charity reach more people

Some roles involve direct support. Others focus on fundraising, awareness, administration, events, local outreach or professional skills. We will help you find a role that suits your time, experience and confidence.

Make a difference

Volunteers do not remove the pain of trigeminal neuralgia, but they can reduce the loneliness around it.

A calm voice, a careful email, a well-run support group, a shared leaflet, a fundraising event or an awareness post can help someone feel less alone and more connected to support.

Volunteer roles

Helpline volunteers
Offer a calm, compassionate voice to people who may be newly diagnosed, isolated or struggling to explain their pain. One careful conversation can help someone feel heard and connected to support.

E-helpline volunteers
Respond to people who prefer to write or cannot easily speak because of facial pain. A thoughtful reply can give someone clear information and a safe route into support.

Friendship Line volunteers
Provide regular human contact for people living with loneliness or the emotional strain of long-term facial pain. A simple call can make someone’s week feel less isolated.

Regional Support Group leads
Bring people together locally or online so they can meet others who understand trigeminal neuralgia. A well-run group can help people feel less invisible and more connected.

Fundraising volunteers
Raise funds through Tea for TNA, coffee mornings, sponsored walks, online sales, workplace events or community activities. Every fundraiser helps TNA UK sustain its support, information and awareness work.

Awareness volunteers
Share approved TNA UK information, promote events, display posters and help more people understand trigeminal neuralgia. This matters because many people have never heard of the condition until diagnosis.

Events and webinar volunteers
Help with preparation, registration, reminders, questions, feedback and follow-up. Good events help people access trusted information and feel part of the TNA UK community.

Administration and skills volunteers
Support the practical work behind the charity, including admin, writing, design, IT, finance, communications, professional skills or local outreach. This work helps TNA UK stay organised, responsive and effective.

Could you help?

You do not have to do everything. You may be able to give regular time, help once, fundraise, share information, use professional skills or support a local group.

However you help, your time can make a real difference to people living with trigeminal neuralgia and facial pain.
