ANEETA PREM MBE
CEO of TNA-UK
Aneeta’s experience of bilateral trigeminal neuralgia began around 2010, with severe pain and resulting sleep deprivation. Her condition remained undiagnosed until 2017. Surgery to help relieve the pain on the right-hand side was performed at UCLH in December 2019.
Aneeta combines lived experience with high-impact charity delivery, using both to widen understanding of trigeminal neuralgia and to strengthen practical support for people living with the condition and their carers.

Since becoming CEO of TNA UK, Aneeta has overseen day-to-day delivery of trustee-approved services, with a focus on access, reach and quality. During this period, the Association’s membership has grown significantly, increasing by around threefold, and the charity’s Regional Support Groups have more than doubled. Following the rollout of the freephone helpline and the Friendship Line, the charity has seen a sustained increase in calls and contacts from people seeking support.
Aneeta has overseen delivery of the charity’s national online webinar programme for members, coordinating participation from international clinical experts, including during the COVID lockdown periods. Many members described these sessions as a lifeline, particularly those who were isolated or using Zoom for the first time. The webinars helped members and families better understand treatment pathways, including surgical options.
Aneeta has supported successful applications for in-kind funding to improve digital access for members, including provision of tablets and connectivity, helping reduce loneliness and isolation during the cost of living crisis.
Aneeta originated the #FaceOfTN and #ShowTN3Fingers awareness campaigns, including the “three fingers” TN visual, and has produced and coordinated YouTube videos which, collectively, have been viewed more than 100,000 times.
Under trustee governance, Aneeta has overseen delivery of the charity’s largest ever TN patient survey, strengthening the charity’s evidence base for services, awareness and future work.
Aneeta is also a trustee of The Neurological Alliance.
Outside her work with TNA UK, Aneeta is the founder of Freedom Charity, which works to eradicate forced marriage, FGM and modern slavery. She has authored two novels that support Freedom’s work. She is a former member of the Metropolitan Police Authority and is a serving London Magistrate in the adult, youth and family courts.
Aneeta holds an honorary Doctor of Letters from the University of Winchester and regularly appears on major TV and radio networks as a commentator. Articles featuring her work are published in magazines and the national press. She received the Prime Minister’s Points of Light Award in 2014 and has been recognised for four consecutive years in the Evening Standard’s Progress 1000. She was also featured in British Airways’ BA 100 celebrating 100 makers of modern Britain. Aneeta was recognised in the King’s New Year Honours list with an MBE for services to the charity sector.
