Introducing “Show TN 3 Fingers”: Your Opportunity to Make a Significant Impact this National TN Awareness Day

As National TN Awareness Day approaches on the 7th of October, we are introducing “Show TN 3 Fingers.” This is a simple yet powerful initiative aimed to broaden the discussion around trigeminal neuralgia.

Building on Past Success:
Last year’s ‘Face of TN’ campaign received strong support from various quarters. This year, we intend to expand our reach by introducing “Show TN 3 Fingers,” which symbolises the trigeminal nerve’s three primary branches: V1, V2, and V3.

How to Get Involved:

  1. Take a Photo or Video: Hold your camera vertically and include three fingers in the frame.
Share and Hashtag: Use the hashtags #FaceOfTN and #ShowTN3Fingers on Facebook and Twitter.
Spread the Word: Challenge others by asking, “Are you brave enough to Show TN Three Fingers?”

Origin of the Concept:
The idea for both ‘Face of TN’ and ‘Show TN 3 Fingers’ originated from a desire to create accessible tools for awareness. The three-finger gesture serves as an inclusive means to visually represent the complexity of the trigeminal nerve to a wider audience.

St James Park Walk and Talk: A Blueprint for Nationwide Community Engagement

On 23rd September, St James Park transitioned from a leisure area to a hub for the TN facial pain community. The event, orchestrated by our London Regional Support Coordinator, Nadine, showed promise for becoming a nationwide initiative.

Meeting a Crucial Need:
The Walk and Talk provides a casual setting for mutual support and face-to-face conversations, which are increasingly important in our technology-dominated world.

Positive Feedback:
The initiative has been received warmly, reinforcing the need for such real-world support mechanisms.

Fashion Meets Community:
Tony and Barrie sported our new TNFP sports t-shirts, adding a touch of unity and attracting positive attention.

A Challenge to Other Regions:
Given the success in London, there’s a call to action for regional coordinators to adopt this model in their own communities.

A big thank you is in order for Nadine for facilitating what may become a national standard for community engagement.

As ever
