Aneeta Prem CEO Update April 2024

Dear Members and Friends,

I hope you’re all doing well. Our recent webinar with Dr. Mark Weatherall, focused on the history of trigeminal neuralgia, has sparked a lot of positive discussions—”the best webinar yet, thank you TNA.” With Easter on the horizon, it’s the perfect opportunity to reflect on our achievements and look towards the future.

Despite the financial hurdles impacting donations across the charity sector, our commitment to supporting those affected by TN and facial pain remains. Your continued support has been crucial in sustaining our valued services:

Dedicated Helplines and E-Helpline: Providing support and guidance to ensure no one faces TN alone.

Freephone Helpline Number: Making our support accessible to everyone, irrespective of financial circumstances.

Regional Support Meetings: Facilitating spaces for members to share experiences and advice, thereby fostering community and friendship.

National Webinars with Experts: Offering the latest insights and treatments from leading TN experts.

Friendship Line: Available for those needing conversation or support during tough times.

Volunteer Training Programs: Enhancing the level of support provided by our dedicated volunteers through targeted training.

Some of the feedback we have received:

“Reaching out to the TNA helpline provided clarity and support through difficult times.”

“The Regional Support meetings have been a lifeline, connecting me with people who truly understand.”

“TNA webinars have equipped me with the knowledge and confidence to manage my condition effectively.”

“Receiving a donated membership allowed me access to essential resources I couldn’t otherwise afford, significantly impacting my journey with TN.”

Fundraising ideas

Many of you have requested some ideas for fundraising that doesn’t involve running a marathon or climbing a mountain. Here are some  ways to help raise funds for TNA:

Sponsor a Day of Silence: Challenge yourself to a day of silence and ask friends and family to sponsor you. This can be a powerful way to raise awareness and funds. It requires very little in terms of physical exertion but demands lots of willpower.

Sponsored Read-a-Thon: Commit to reading a set number of books over a certain period and invite your network to sponsor your endeavour. This initiative combines the joy of reading with the opportunity to support a worthy cause, and it’s perfect for book lovers seeking a meaningful challenge.

Art Creation Marathon: Dedicate a day or a weekend to creating art, whether it’s painting, drawing, or crafting, and ask for sponsorships. You could even offer to create personalised artwork for higher donations. It’s a great way to showcase your creativity while supporting TNA.

Knit-a-Thon: For those who enjoy knitting or crochet, pledge to knit a certain number of items, like scarves or blankets, within a specified timeframe. Seek sponsors for each piece you commit to creating. The finished products can also be donated to those in need, doubling the impact of your effort.

Digital Detox Challenge: Encourage sponsors by committing to a 24-hour digital detox. This means no phones, no social media, no computers. It’s a refreshing challenge that emphasizes the importance of disconnecting from digital devices while raising funds for a cause close to your heart.

Puzzle Completion Contest: Set a goal to complete a series of puzzles – be it jigsaw puzzles, crossword puzzles, or Sudoku – and ask for sponsorship per puzzle or for the entire challenge.

We hope you find these ideas inspiring and consider taking on one (or more!) of these challenges to support TNA.
