Aneeta prem CEO Update November 2024

Dear Friends and Members,

I hope you are well.

Christmas cards

This Christmas, we are pleased to offer our exclusive TNA UK charity Christmas cards—a thoughtful way to send your greetings while supporting the vital work of raising awareness for Trigeminal Neuralgia and chronic facial pain. These are excellent quality cards measuring 16cm by 23cm, allowing them to be posted using a standard letter stamp. Each card purchased directly supports our ongoing work; from providing resources to advancing advocacy and research.

On top of that, sending our Christmas cards really helps us raise awareness of TN and opens conversations around the condition.

“Last year, I bought the TNA Christmas card, and I was really impressed with the quality, style, and size. But more importantly, I bought the card because it was a subtle way to let friends know I have TN. It became a conversation opener, and people started asking, ‘What is TN?’ It allowed me to talk about it without feeling uncomfortable.”

Please consider ordering your Christmas cards today and help us spread awareness through every message you send. The cards can be ordered through our shop

Hobbies and Art

As the nights continue to draw in, we are introducing an opportunity to showcase your hobbies and talents and help inspire others who are looking for meaningful things to start doing.

Your hobby may encourage someone else to take up a pastime that helps them obtain necessary distraction from TN. Art, for instance, has been shown to offer significant therapeutic benefits for those with chronic pain. Creative expression — whether through painting, drawing, or photography — can provide moments of relief, lift mood, and build resilience. For those living with TN, art can become more than a pastime; it can be a source of comfort and strength.

Whatever your hobbies, we’re interested to hear from you and we love seeing your pictures too.

We especially invite you to share your artwork with us. Selected pieces will be featured on our website as a celebration of the unique resilience that you show, offering both conversation about TN and a space to inspire others.

Please send artwork to [email protected]

Robert’s fundraising challenge

Finally, an update for you on Robert – a TN sufferer – who, alongside his colleagues, is fundraising for us by undertaking an incredible 14,000 press-ups. We have a blog running with updates for you, and please support him if you are able to on his JustGiving site.

Together, let’s make this season one of support, understanding, and connection.

An easy way to donate as you shop

Finally, as the Christmas season approaches, we are encouraging you to sign up to one of the websites that donate to charity as you shop. One of these is Easy Fundraising https://www.easyfundraising.org.uk. Once you have signed up, and chosen Trigeminal Neuralgia Association UK as your charity, you simply shop through it (eg by searching for Marks and Spencer or Sainsbury’s) and a proportion of your spend is donated to us at no expense to you.

Another site is Give As You Live https://www.giveasyoulive.com that follows the same process.

Both of these sites may ask you to download the ‘Donation Reminder’ but you can skip this if you want to.

Whilst some of you may already know of these sites for internet shopping, they also allow you to use reloadable ‘gift cards’ in store at many major supermarkets and give to charity that way – again at no expense to you. Our Fundraising and Volunteer Coordinator, Phil, will be very happy to help you get set up with one of these. He is available on [email protected] or 07990 292 207.
