Aneeta Prem CEO Update September 2024

Dear Friends and Members,

National Trigeminal Neuralgia Awareness Day is nearly here. On Monday, 7th October, we have an opportunity to come together again to raise awareness and support everyone affected by Trigeminal Neuralgia.

Focus for This Year: Continuing Vital Support and Driving Change

This year, we are concentrating on strengthening our core work—providing essential support services, funding important research, and increasing awareness about Trigeminal Neuralgia (TN). To achieve this, we need your involvement. Whether large or small, every action matters. You don’t have to take on an extreme challenge like cycling across continents or skydiving (though those are always exciting options). There are plenty of ways to make a real difference from your own home or within your community.

Get Involved: Practical Ways to Make a Big Difference

Our new fundraising guide is full of practical ideas and suggestions on how you can support TNA UK. There are options for everyone—whether you’re up for hosting a tea morning, organising a sponsored silence, selling items on Vinted, or setting up a JustGiving page. Small efforts can add up to substantial support, helping to fund our helpline, support and contribute to the research that offers hope for those living with TN.

If you know someone—a friend, family member, or colleague—who might be interested in getting involved, please share the guide with them. We are calling on everyone to take just one action to support our efforts. Every contribution, however modest, makes a real impact.

Use Social Media to Raise Awareness

We also invite you to help raise awareness online. Use the hashtag #ShowTN3Fingers and share images showing the ‘three fingers’ sign to represent the three branches of the trigeminal nerve. Last year, these images reached far and wide, and we’d love to see even more this year, helping to spread awareness and connect with more people.

Need Help? We’re Here to Support You

If you would like to discuss fundraising ideas or need assistance with planning, please contact Phil at [email protected]. He is available to help you make your fundraising as effective as possible.

First-Ever National TNA Survey: Excellent Results So Far

We are pleased to report the fantastic response to our first-ever national TNA survey. The feedback has been brilliant, giving us valuable insights to help us improve our support and advocacy. Thank you to everyone who has taken part. If you haven’t yet filled in the survey, there is still time to do so. Your input is vital to our ongoing efforts.

Your Role is Crucial

Every action you take helps us continue providing critical support, connect people to reduce isolation, and drive the research that could one day lead to a cure. By participating in this year’s Awareness Day, you are helping build a future where Trigeminal Neuralgia is better understood, better treated, and ultimately, overcome.

Thank you for being a key part of this community and for your ongoing support of TNA UK. Let’s make this year’s Awareness Day a strong and united effort for change.
