Running for His Dad – Mark’s TN Journey
Adam’s dad, Mark, was diagnosed with trigeminal neuralgia three years ago, though it wasn’t the family’s first encounter with the disease. Mark’s father-in-law, Fred, also lived with TN in his later years. Still, nothing prepared them for how life-changing it would be.
“The pain affects my tongue — and I make my living through speaking,” Mark shared.
“On bad days, I simply can’t work. But I carry on. I don’t let it win.”
The condition struck at the core of his identity. It shook the whole family. But it also united them — in resilience and determination.
What Is Trigeminal Neuralgia?
Trigeminal neuralgia is a neurological condition that affects the trigeminal nerve, causing sudden, electric shock-like facial pain. It can be triggered by routine actions — speaking, brushing teeth, or even wind on the skin.
Known as “the suicide disease,” TN affects around 10,000 people in the UK. Many are misdiagnosed. Some suffer in silence for years.
That’s why TNA UK exists — offering free guidance, helplines, medical webinars, and community support to those who need it most.

Adam’s Reason to Run
“I’m running the London Marathon for TNA UK — the only charity in the UK that supports people with trigeminal neuralgia.”
“This condition has impacted my dad’s life and our whole family. TNA UK has been there for him. Now, I want to give back.”
“Every donation means something. And if you leave a message on my JustGiving page, I’ll read every word on race day.”
Adam originally entered the marathon alongside his twin brothers, Luke and Charlie, but he was the only one to secure a place. He’s running for all three of them — and for every person who knows the pain of TN.
A Message from the TN Community
“Thanks to TNA UK, I met other people with TN for the first time. It was life-changing — not just for me, but for my husband too. To be in a room where people truly understood felt like a lifeline.
That’s why I’m supporting Adam. His decision to run for his dad — and for all of us — is one of the most touching things I’ve seen.”
